T-Mobile Android-base Pulse Mini Drops To £64 Until Tonight

T-Mobile Android-base Pulse Mini Drops To £64 Until Tonight

T-Mobile has a flash sale going on at the moment with 20 per cent off their PAYG mobile phones which means that you can get its own branded Pulse mini handset for only £64.

The handset - which will remain the cheapest Android handset for the next few ours - comes with six months free internet worth £20 with a fair usage policy of 500MB data allowance per month. You also get a £30 voucher from M&S with free delivery as well as a 2GB microSD card.

Although we'd prefer the Orange San Francisco, we envision that you could use the Pulse Mini as a perfectly acceptable handset for light usage especially as you get free unlimited texts when you top up £10 per month.

LG Optimus 2X Is Major Milestone For New Nvidia

LG Optimus 2X Is Major Milestone For New Nvidia

The new LG Optimus 2X is the first smartphone that will come with a dual core Nvidia Tegra 2 system on chip and as such it constitutes a very significant milestone for the Californian-based semiconductor giant.
Nvidia is known mainly for its graphics processing units (or GPU) which have single handedly changed the graphics card market more than one decade ago.

But, just as it caused many of its competitors to adapt or perish (3D FX, Number Nine, 3D Labs), Nvidia has been forced to reassess its current situation in a market that will change significantly next year.

The coming to market of the first AMD Fusion to face Intel's own Sandy Bridge processors - which combine the CPU & GPU on a single die - means that Nvidia has no other option but to explore a third way.
And because the company doesn't have strong vested interests in the x86 market, it means that it was easy for Nvidia to embrace ARM and its rapidly growing ambition to rival Intel and AMD on their own playgrounds.

New Dell Cuts Price Of Streak To £399

New Dell Cuts Price Of Streak To £399

O2 announced the release of Froyo (Android 2.2) for the Dell Streak which you can buy for £399 on PAYG from Telefonica.
But you can also get it from Dell direct, unlocked, for the same price including VAT and delivery which is £50 less the original selling price.

What's more, Dell also sells a home dock solution and a car docking kit, both of which are not available from O2.

You can also add another year to the 12 month warranty for only £5, making it altogether a better option to buy it from Dell for the 16GB model.
However, O2's 32GB version of the Streak on PAYG is a full £30 cheaper than at Dell. Dell rolled out Froyo for the Sterak last month and you can find out more here.

Nokia Takes On Apple, Is That A Sign Of Desperation?

Nokia Takes On Apple, Is That A Sign Of Desperation?

Nokia's decision to take on Apple on home grounds, in European courts, may be seen as a desperate attempt by the Finnish company to take down Apple before the Cupertino-based company squeezes it out of the smartphone market.
The 13 patents covered in the filings in three European countries cover such a wide range of features that it will give lawyers on both sides much to discuss over the next few months.
Apple has simply been much better than Nokia at churning out technology that simply works. For example, it was the Nokia 5500 Sport which back in 2006 introduced the concept of accelerometers to the mobile market.
The lawsuits could therefore mean that Nokia is looking to force Apple to sign a wide-ranging cross licensing agreement that would cover a number of key features or stump up licensing money rather than competing with it in the open market.

Google Nexus S Price Cut To £430 Because Of Sales Concerns?

Google Nexus S Price Cut To £430 Because Of Sales Concerns?

Carphone Warehouse has slashed the price of the handset from £549 to only £430 for the unlocked version, a price that includes delivery.
We're not sure why Carphone Warehouse and Google would cut the price of the Nexus S by £119, only days after it was launched; the move might be motivated by concerns about poor sales.
The phone, made by Samsung, is now a better deal compared to the Samsung Galaxy S, the phone on which it is based, one which can be had for £380 including delivery, only £50 less although a "refurbished" will cost well under £300.
We mentioned price as being one of the reasons why the Nexus S would be a failure and it looks that Google choose to play it safe with an early price cut.
