Gravity-defying lion dance on high poles mesmerized shoppers at The Gardens Mall in Kuala Lumpur on Friday 19th February 2010.
The Kwong Ngai Lion Dance Troupe, who were 2004 Lion Dance World Champion and 2006 International Lion Dance Champion, performed their spectacular lion dance stunts on top of 3 - 10 ft. metal poles representing plum blossom trees.
The acrobatic lion dance performance kicked off with the "Dotting of the Lions' Eye" or "Hoi Gong" performed ceremoniously by The Gardens chief executive officer Antony P. Barragry.
The Gardens chief executive officer Antony P. Barragry (right) arrived for the ceremonial "Dotting of the Eyes" ceremony or "hoi gong" to bring the lion to life. It is a Chinese tradition ceremony of painting in the eye of the Chinese lion before the start of the lion dance to awaken the spirit of the lion.

After the eye-dotting ceremony, the twin lions came alive as the spirits were brought into the creatures.
