A huge turnout estimated to be more than 5,000 people of all races from all walks of life thronged the ADUN Bukit Lanjan YB Elizabeth Wong Chinese New Year 2010 open house at Dewan Serbaguna, MBPJ in Jalan BU3/1, Bandar Utama, Petaling Jaya.on Saturday 27th February 2010.
The gracious host YB Elizabeth Wong, who is Selangor exco for Tourism, Consumer Affairs and Environment was touched by the strong support from the people who came from near and afar to wish her “gong xi fa cai” for a happy prosperous year.
It was good to see the different communities came to celebrate the Chinese New Year together as true Malaysians in mutual respect, harmony and unity.
The crowd, comprising the old and the young, were in jovial mood as they mingled and enjoyed themselves with a sumptuous spread of local delicacies and rousing performances of acrobatic lion dance and Chinese orchestra.
Among the VIPs present were Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Abdul Khalid Bin Ibrahim, Selangor Economic Advisor and Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Selangor Exco for Local Government, Study and Research Ronnie Liu Tian Khiew and Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) president Datin Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.
Also present were leaders from Pakatan Rakyat coalition partners PAS and DAP as well as several foreign dignitaries from Ireland, Taiwan, Singapore, Germany, etc.
When Datuk Seri Anwar, a former finance minister, arrived at the open house, everyone in the crowd behaved excitedly and many extended their hands to greet him.
Datuk Seri Anwar has this great charisma and fiery oratorical skills that the audience roared out in thunderous cheer and applause at the end of his Chinese New Year speech.

High pole lion dance :
Lion dances are performed during Chinese New Year to bring good luck and to drive away bad spirits. The Keadilan Lion Dance Troupe perform acrobatic stunts on top high metal poles representing plum blossom trees.
The acrobatic movements of the lion dance are a sight to see.
It was a spectacular and thrilling performance with the auspicious lion jumping from pole to pole.
