1 Malaysia spirit alive at MIC Deepavali Open House 2009 @ PWTC, KL

Hindus celebrated Deepavali, or the Festival of Lights on October 17, 2009.

Malaysians of all races came to celebrate and shared the Deepavali joy together in the true spirit of mutual respect, goodwill, harmony and unity at the Malaysian Indian Congress (MIC) Deepavali open house held at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday, October 17, 2009.

This is the spirit of 1 Malaysia to unify all the races in the country. Everyone had an enjoyable time as they mingled around in a celebratory mood and enjoyed the scrumptious and mouth-watering delicacies accompanied by melodies of classical Indian music played by musicians on a makeshift stage using traditional musical instruments.

The open house drew a crowd of about 5,000 visitors who came to wish ‘Happy Deepavali’ to party president Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu, his wife and other MIC cabinet ministers and officials.

Among the VIPs present at the open house were Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, Health Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai and Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Unity and Performance Management) Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon.
