Mid-Autumn Festival 2010 joyful celebration at Taman Aman, PJ by ADUN Kg Tunku office


Over 800 people turned out for the Mid-Autumn Festival 2010 celebration on Saturday 18th September 2010 at Taman Aman basketball court in Section 20 Taman Paramount, Petaling Jaya.

The event was organised by the office of ADUN Kampung Tunku state assemblyman YB Lau Weng San for the local community in the Kampung Tunku constituency to come together and celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival in the spirit of muhibbah (goodwill) and unity.

The festival will be celebrated by the Chinese community on Wednesday September 22, 2010. The Mid-Autumn Festival is also known as the Mooncake and Lantern Festival.

YB Lau Weng San who was pleased with the turnout played host to the large crowd who comprised residents in the Kampung Tunku constituency, community leaders, residents of several old folks homes, orphanages and NGOs. It was a great thing for the community. The support was really great here.

The guest of honour was Selangor state exco for Tourism, Consumer Affairs and Environment and Bukit Lanjan state assemblywoman YB Elizabeth Wong who was greeted on her arrival by two lions dance troupe and the merry crowd.

Present at the event were Petaling Jaya Utara PAS Youth wing chairman Azri Mohamad Arish and Majlis Bandaraya Petaling Jaya (MBPJ) councillor Jeyaseelen Anthony who is in charge of service areas covering Section 20 Taman Paramount, Section 21 SEA Park and Section 22, Taman Len Seng.

Also present were Section 21 SEA Park Residents Association (RA) chairman Gan Keng, Section 21 SEA Park Rukun Tetangga (RT) deputy chairman Cliff Yin, Taman Len Seng (Section 22) Rukun Tetangga chairman G. Rajendram, Kiwanis Malaysia Lt Governor Div 3 Ho Wah Ying and CIMB Bank SEA Park branch manager Ong Kooi Hooi.

The highlight of the event was a colourful lantern parade led by YB Lau Weng San, YB Elizabeth Wong, PJU PAS Youth chairman Azri Mohamad Arish and two lion dance troupes into the lake gradens of Taman Aman.

Food was served buffet style and there were songs, lion dance and line dance performances to entertain everyone present.

The festival brought the various races together to celebrate in the spirit of harmony and unity.


It was nice to see these lanterns became a symbol of racial harmony.

The festival helps promote goodwill, understanding and harmony among the people.
